2008 Charter General Motorcoach Information.

(RETURN TRIP UPDATES: Real-time Motorcoach Return Updates, when the coach is returning with your campers, will be found on the Louisiana Plan Page.)

The EFFORTLESS way to come to camp!

A coach (maybe 2) will leave from Baton Rouge.  There will be a stop along the route to pick up campers in Mandeville, LA.  Other stops may be arranged in MS and AL.

There are general rules and information regarding the motorcoach.  Please be familiar with this page.  To learn more about your specific location and travel schedule, click:   LOUISIANA PLAN    MISSISSIPPI-ALABAMA PLAN

Sign up!    $125 each way! (Same as last year! - so far)*  To sign up: your fare signs you up (send it to camp).  If you sign up in May, call to confirm that your spot has been secured.  Luggage is the limiting factor.  Campers bring so much luggage that only the first 40 may bring luggage.  Sign up quickly.  Please tell your friends about this.

Email is our primary means of communicating to you regarding bus transportation information.   BE SURE we have your up-to-date email address.

Real-time arrival time updates will be posted on line.  If for some reason you can't follow arrival time information (i.e. You are driving to make the pick up.) please make arrangements with a friend who can.  If necessary, call the camp.

We find these motor coaches are somewhat unpredictable due to traffic, weather, meals, road construction, etc.  Motor coaches can run later than the estimates.   On departure day we put adjusted arrival time information on the plan page for your state.  (See red letter samples there.) to make your pick-up easier.

Luxury Motor Coaches are provided by New Orleans Tours.  They should be equipped with stereo, PA system, video players and monitors, luxury seating, etc.

RULES
Be there early.  The bus might leave on time.
You are responsible to see that your camper is ready and on time.  There are no refunds for missing the bus.
1) Carefully see that all of your luggage is aboard.  Double check.
2) Carefully see that your camper(s) is on board and stays on board.  Double check.
3) You are responsible to get all of your camper's belongings and luggage off the bus at the end of camp.

LUGGAGE:  Luggage is our limiting factor.  You should bring no more than 1 standard footlocker, one duffel bag and a small carry-on.  Put the footlocker and duffels below and save a "squishy" carry-on for the overhead shelf or under the seats.  Ship some ahead if you can.  We had some luggage space problems on the June trip mostly because people used some oversized trunks and duffels.  If your child has oversized luggage, please consider shipping one ahead of time.  If you are above the number 40 on the list, it is unlikely that we will be able to fit your luggage.  Plan to ship it.  (However, if we take 2 coaches - likely in June - we will have more room.).

Suggestions: We recommend a good dinner before departure and a few small snacks and a water-bottle for the trip.  We should calm everyone down around 11:00 for some snoozing.  Very quiet talking will be ok as long as it is not disruptive.  Personal stereos (w/headphones), small travel games like chess, etc are ok for the trip.  We can store electronics in the office at camp for the trip back.  Books and reading material are recommended.

More about pricing...

We had a full bus for the June Session last year!  Also, we used to recommend travel money for meals but as things evolved, we found it was better to include meals and snacks.  So, now, the price is all inclusive.  You do not need to send travel money.  GAS The cost of fuel has risen precipitously.  We are glad to keep the price so low!  Thanks to New Orleans Tours for their competitive prices and efficiency.

The Transportation company is New Orleans Tours of New Orleans, LA.  If you have questions regarding the motor coach company, New Orleans Tours can be reached at 1-504-592-1991.  Call or email the office anytime regarding questions about the trip.

Camps Kahdalea and Chosatonga are acting as facilitators for the parents who have begun the ball rolling on this.  We are the logical clearing house for passing on information and handling the financial arrangements, rather than have a camp parent arrange this at home.  As always, for the record, parents are responsible for travel arrangements to and from camp.  We are glad to act as facilitators.

*The price is subject to change, but we will work to keep it low.  Thanks
